The Rocky Mountain Outdoor Writers & Photographers, Inc. accepts applications for its coveted Scott-McKenna Memorial Scholarship on an on-going basis. The award is given annually to a student with a career interest in communicating about the outdoors. Students need not have a declared major in a communications field. Outdoor communications take the form of published written material, photographs, illustrations or messages broadcast on TV, radio, or Internet.
The outdoors genre, as typified by RMOWP membership, is birding, conservation, science, fishing, hunting, camping, backpacking, paddle and climbing sports.
The annual award of $500-$1000 will be paid directly to the college to offset tuition and fees. Questions regarding the scholarship should be sent to the Scholarship Chair. Click here to obtain an application.
RMOWP, established in 1973, is an association of professional and avid amateur communicators with an enduring interest in telling the outdoor story of the Rocky Mountain West. The award is named in memory of J.B. Scott and Joe McKenna, founders of RMOWP. RMOWP membership includes editors, writers, web designers, photographers, authors, fine artists, broadcast producers, and public information officers for natural resource agencies. |
